What matters is looking past the marketing claims: the cloud is not automatically cheaper, and on-premise is not automatically more secure. It depends on the specific case.

Our view: for most companies the advantages of the cloud outweigh — flexibility, no hardware, rapid scaling. In the DACH region, however, the data location is decisive: a cloud with EU or Swiss data residency meets the data protection requirements; one outside often does not.
On-premise remains right where data sovereignty is mandatory or regulation requires it. Frequently a hybrid route is optimal. We assess that honestly in an assessment — including the cases where the cloud is not the answer.

Is there a middle route?
