Capturing receipts and QR-bills: scan expenses instead of typing them
Updated: 2026-10
Typing bills and receipts by hand is where many budgets fall asleep. Scanning is faster: a Swiss QR-bill contains all payment details in structured form, and receipts can be read via text recognition. That way cash spending and bills that never appear individually on a statement also land in the budget.
Bank statements only show what went through the account, often only as a lump sum. Detailed purchases, cash spending and bills not yet paid are missing. Capturing them anyway means typing amounts and merchants — effort rarely kept up for long.
At the same time, receipts contain personal information. Many people do not want to give them to services that build advertising profiles from them.
How it works
- 01
Scan the QR-bill
Capture the bill’s QR code; payee, amount and reference are taken over.
- 02
Photograph the receipt
Take a picture of the receipt; merchant, date and amount are read via text recognition.
- 03
Confirm the category
Check the suggested category and adjust if needed.
- 04
See it in the budget
The expense appears in the household budget, shared with your partner or family if you wish.

FAQ
Are my receipts used for advertising?
No. Capture works without tracking; receipts serve only your budget.
Does it work with old payment slips?
The orange and red payment slips were replaced by the QR-bill in 2022. QR-bills and receipts are captured.
Does every expense have to be scanned?
No. Account movements can be taken over by CSV import; scanning adds what does not appear there or only in summary.
