What does an MVP cost?

Updated: 2026-09

In short

An MVP costs almost exactly what you put into it — the scope is the price. The decisive question is therefore not what it costs but what the smallest scope is that serves a genuine paying customer. Binding range after the first conversation.

Unlike most projects, the price of an MVP follows almost entirely from a single decision: what goes in. There is no natural scope arising from the task — every feature is a deliberate choice.

The question of what an MVP costs is therefore really the question of the right scope. And that can be answered: it is the smallest scope with which a real customer gets a real problem solved and pays for it.

What drives the cost

Scope of the core function

By far the largest lever. Every additional feature moves both the price and the date.

User and permission model

Login, roles and permissions are regularly underestimated and rarely trivial.

External integrations

Every integration — payment, email, third-party systems — is its own effort with its own failure cases.

Design ambition

A functional interface is considerably cheaper than a bespoke designed one.

Foundation or throwaway

An MVP that will be built on costs more than a pure proof of concept — and saves money as soon as work continues.

How we price

  1. 01

    Fixed price

Where the scope can be clearly bounded, we work to a binding fixed price. You know exactly what it costs before the project starts — no open-ended hourly billing, no surprises.

  2. 02

Time and materials against an estimate

Where the scope is not yet fully settled at the start, we work transparently against effort — with an estimate discussed in advance and regular cost control, so nothing runs away.

  3. 03

    Engagement / retainer

For ongoing support — advisory, governance or continuous optimisation — we agree an engagement with a defined scope per month. Predictable cost, flexibly adjustable.

We deliberately publish no online prices: every case differs. After a short first conversation you receive a binding fixed price or clear frame.

FAQ

Why is there no specific price on the website?

Because a serious price depends on the actual scope, and a number online would almost always be wrong — too high deters, too low leads to unpleasant surprises. After a short first conversation we give you a binding fixed price or a clear range.

How do I get to a binding fixed price?

Through a short, free first conversation in which we clarify scope, goals and constraints. On that basis you receive a specific, binding price — with no hidden costs.

Where do people save at the wrong end on an MVP?

On the data structure and the permission model. Both are invisible, expensive to retrofit, and decide whether you can build on the MVP or must start again.

What definitely does not belong in an MVP?

Anything not needed for the first paying customer to get their problem solved. Admin interfaces, reporting and edge cases almost always come later.
